What will a chiropractor do on the first visit?

One of the most common questions people search for online when considering a chiropractor is:  What will my first visit be like?

Most often, when people are searching online for a CHIROPRACTOR, they are doing so because they have a specific problem that they want help with. Usually, that is a painful condition, such as back pain, that is affecting their day to day activity. Because many of our new patients have not had experience with a chiropractor before, they are curious about what the initial visit is like.

For the most part, the initial visit to SUN CHIROPRACTIC will not be much different from the experience you have in other professional offices.

No one likes paperwork, so we do our best to keep it to a minimum.

We ask that you come a couple of minutes before your appointment to fill out a little bit of paperwork.  Next is a meeting with the doctor so that you can explain what you would like help with, what your expectations for care are and ask any question you may have.

History and examinations are comprehensive.

After getting a thorough understanding of the reason for your visit, the doctor will do a comprehensive examination to help figure out what can be done to help you.  This exam will be specific to your particular case but will often include: range of motion measurements of your spine or extremities, physical examination and testing of various areas that might be bothering you or contributing to your concerns, an assessment of your neurologic status including strength testing, reflexes and sensation testing, and an evaluation of your movement patterns.

If required, additional tests such as X-rays can be ordered.

Once the doctor has completed the examination, they will discuss with you what the diagnosis and treatment options are, and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.  Once you are comfortable with the information and the treatment plan, the doctor will perform a chiropractic treatment, which will probably consist of some soft tissue treatment/massage/stretching, a chiropractic adjustment and some home management and exercise advice.

Treatment plans are clearly explained and are specific to your concerns, wants and needs.

Very often, a new patient exam is completed in about an hour. We value your time as much as you do and do our very best to be on time and keep your wait times to the bare minimum.

We sincerely appreciate the trust you place in us when you become a patient or refer someone for care.  If you or someone you know is interested in chiropractic care, we can be reached at www.sunchiro.ca
